CLASS NEWSLETTER:
Weekly your child will receive a Class Newsletter that will outline the week’s proceedings, important information, SOL objectives taught for the week, and upcoming events. Parents who have submitted an email address will have newsletters sent to their Inbox.
EAGLE NOTES
Weekly Eagle Notes will be sent home to inform you of your child’s individual classroom conduct. Parents are asked to sign and return weekly Eagle Notes.
TYVEK-TESTING ENVELOPES:
Large yellow envelopes will be sent home the beginning of each week enclosed with your child’s assessments and Weekly Progress Notes from the previous week.
· Review the contents.
· Sign the Weekly Progress Report.
· Sign the front of the envelope for the designated day.
· RETURN ALL CONTENTS TO SCHOOL THE FOLLOWING DAY.
Copies of Weekly Progress Reports will be sent home weekly. Assessments will be retained at school, and will be returned home at the end of the quarter.
AGENDA BOOK
Each student will receive an Agenda Book. Nightly assignments and reminders will be written daily. Parents are asked to review inscriptions each evening and sign the notification at the bottom of the page. As Agenda Books are to be returned and are written in daily, it is the ideal place to write quick notes to me regarding anything from, early dismissal, homework difficulty, or a conference request.
CONDUCT CALENDARS:
Appropriate school/classroom conduct is important for all to remain safe and on-task. Daily, your child will be accountable for his or her own classroom behavior. Every month, each student will receive a behavior calendar. At the end of each day, your child’s individual classroom conduct will be noted. A GREEN star represents a fabulous day, a YELLOW star indicates he or she had some difficulty following classroom procedures and routines, and a RED star denoted severe disciplinary problems and you will be notified. Each night, I ask that you initial the calendar to keep you aware of your child’s classroom behavior. The signed calendar is expected to be returned to school the following day. At the end of each week, students will be commended and rewarded for outstanding conduct and/or improvement. Please praise any good choices that were made, and discuss any choices that could have been better.
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES:
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be a great way for us to discuss your child’s progress at school. They will be held during the 1st (October 10th & 11th) and 3rd (March 6th & 7th) Marking Periods. I hope to see you there!

The best gift a parent can give their child is the love of books and the benefit of reading together. Children who gain reading experience at home, have a head start on their success in school.
Owning your own books is something special! I hope that you will encourage your child to order books throughout the year. One of the best ways to encourage reading is to allow children to select the books they want to read.
I will be sending home a new book order from the Scholastic Book Club at the beginning of each month. You'll find a selection of inexpensive, award-winning books that cover a variety of reading levels and interests.
If you will be ordering books for your child, please send a check or cash to school. Checks should be payable to SCHOLASTIC BOOKS. Place in an envelope with your child's name, Mrs. Lorenz, and BOOK
ORDER on the front.
